ANEMA and Maison Demi Karan come together for The Amphora Bag, a capsule collection conceived and designed by fashion editor and consultant Demi Karanikolaou and brought to life through ANEMA’s generations of Italian craftsmanship and expertise in innovative non-animal materials. Born from a shared belief that ethical material innovation and unapologetic glamour should not exist in separate worlds, the collaboration reimagines the possibilities of the contemporary luxury handbag.

Drawing on the classical Mediterranean worlds of Greece and Southern Italy, Demi Karanikolaou takes the ancient amphora as a loose point of departure, abstracting its curves and proportions through Maison Demi Karan’s sculptural, luminous design language. A sweeping gold amphora-inspired handle unites the collection, creating a signature gesture that feels at once historical and distinctly modern. Throughout, opposites coexist: ancient and futuristic, structured and sensual, intellectual and glamorous.

Luminosity runs through each of the three expressions. Fierce Baguette appears in ribbed metallic silver, Gilded Form in glossy gold crocodile-effect, and Edgy Envelope in glossy black crocodile-effect. Reflective surfaces catch and transform the light, while gold and silver are treated almost as neutrals, allowing the bags to command attention without demanding it.

Each Amphora Bag is crafted artisanally in Italy using ANEMA’s innovative bio-based vegan material incorporating Sicilian citrus-industry by-products. Made to order, the Maison Demi Karan silhouettes can also be commissioned in other available ANEMA finishes, allowing each client to make the form distinctly their own.
